Not of this planet

Here is a fine blog post from someone who is becoming a "foodie". The post is about something I am convinced did not originate on this planet, Velveeta. It's gooey, yellow, binding but I am sorry it is not cheesy because it ain't cheese. How do I know such a thing? Scientific observation. When you have left any cheese in the fridge to long the inevitable happens, mold. This did not stop my grandfather from "digging and carving" and finding the good cheese deep down. I can appreciate his efforts but green fuzz is where I stop caring about the food.

My old roommate from years ago made something that he called "Super Dip". This consisted of putting in a crock pot two logs of Velveeta, two cans of Velveeta, spicy rotel tomatoes and one lb of browned sausage. Not only will this stick to your ribs but also to the hull of an air craft carrier. He made this dip one time and did not clean the remnants in the crock pot for 6 months. What happened? Nothing, holy crap, nothing. No single celled organism saw fit to call that yellow wasteland home. Velveeta is from another planet and should be an element on the periodic table.
Ve- Velveetium. It is not cheese.

true, true, it's not cheese. but, the super bowl ain't the super bowl without a big, beautiful bowl of rotel dip. yum.

As the above mentioned old roommate, I must applaud the most noble intention of educating the masses about the true nature of Vel veetium. All Velveetium should be considered a clear and present danger to humanity, gathered up and sealed in the Yucca Mountain site or launched into the sun. (Where is Superman when you need him?)

Far be it from me to argue with the up and coming "doodie"... er "foodie", but if one burns one's tongue while consuming a Velveetium-based dip, one should understand how lucky one is to in fact be alive to blog about it.

Two minor points of clarification.

First, the recipe is a little off. Monster Dip, as it is properly known, consists of only one log of Velveeta, two cans of Ro-tel, and one pound of cooked an drained pork sausage.

Second, and more importantly, the lack of cleaning the crock pot was a protest against this blog's owner who scorched said crock pot during a reheat of the Monster Dip. Mr. Don't Hate Me Because I'm Me consumed the entire contents of reheated Velveetium-based dip, leaving none for this former roommate. And yet, shockingly (and might I add quite unprovoked because I did mail your CDs back to you), this former roommate gets blamed for the science experiment!

Thank you Christopher for that clarification.
