Mr. Jerry Reed, the Snowman to those who loved Smokey and the Bandit, died today. This man dripped with talent, flair and good old fashioned culture.
East bound and Out was his crown laid upon the movie Smokey and the Bandit but my absolute favorite is Amos Moses. No one has ever written a better song about alligator hunting. I was upset at his passing. Eastbound and Down is one of my favorite songs, and being the son of a trucker, gave me some meaning in my 1980s childhood.
